It is for this reason that we donate to planet forward non profits ensuring that we are not only part of the solution, but also ensuring that we help clean up the mess that has been created.  We were a 1% for the planet member for 2 years (2019-2021).  While we have taken a small break from the 1% for the planet family to focus on sustaining the business during the pandemic, we are still committed to giving back.  Since 2018 we have donated over $11,000!  Some of the organizations that we have supported are:  Plastic free July, Sea Shepherd conservation society, and The Ocean Cleanup project.  PickEco Refills also supports the Downtown Chilliwack Market society, that brings food security to the residents of downtown Chilliwack through their summer market, check out The Downtown Chilliwack Community Market to find out more.

In 2021 PickEco Refills took part in the work experience opportunities grant from the ministry of social development and poverty reduction.  Through this program, PickEco was able to offer work experience to 10 people who faced barriers to employment.  Through this program, we were able to have a 5 person litter clean up crew in the downtown area for 12 weeks each.  In total among the clean up crew participants, 720 hours were spent cleaning up littler with approximately 300 five gallon pails of garbage removed.
